The smart unmanned forklift (AGV/AMR) is one of the core elements of warehouse automation. To accurately identify and lift palletized goods, seamless collaboration between machine vision technology and forklifts is crucial. Delta's 3D Vision Pallet Detection Solution combines the DIAVision Machine Vision Platform with the 3D ToF Smart Camera DMV-T, providing various applications required for intelligent unmanned forklifts, including measurement, positioning, guidance, and cargo inspection.

The 3D Pallet Positioning feature ensures that the forklift picks up the pallet at the appropriate angle, preventing the goods from being knocked over. The Pallet Boundary Detection ensures that the goods are securely placed within the pallet's range, avoiding tipping or collisions during handling. The Fork Object Detection function ensures that no pallet is on the forks, allowing safe pickup of the next pallet. In environments with stacked pallets or varying pallet sizes, the Multi-Pallet and Multi-Size Detection function enables flexible identification and handling of pallets.

Compact Runtime & Powerful Computation for Multi-Function Pallet Detection

The DIAVision Runtime version effectively reduces the operating burden on the unmanned forklift's main computer. Equipped with a powerful Cortex-A53 dual-core processor, the DMV-T 3D ToF smart camera can independently run detection tasks, relieving the load from the main computer. When running DIAVision Runtime, the camera can perform multi-task image processing, executing 3D pallet positioning, pallet boundary detection, and forklift object detection tasks simultaneously on a single DMV-T 3D ToF smart camera, significantly simplifying installation space and costs.
 




High-Quality 3D Images & Cross-Computing to Adapt to Different Scenarios

The DMV-T 3D ToF smart camera utilizes Time-of-Flight (ToF) distance measurement technology, supporting high-speed dynamic imaging at 60fps with a resolution of 640 x 480. It can simultaneously capture point cloud data, depth maps, and intensity maps. The variety of image types provides DIAVision with the flexibility to select the most suitable image depending on the specific warehouse environment. By using multiple image cross-referencing, it achieves precise pallet detection.

Point Cloud Map

Represents the surface of an object using 3D coordinates, used for 3D reconstruction, dimensional measurement, shape analysis, and quality inspection.

Depth Map

Each pixel represents the distance to the camera, used for capturing shape and depth information.

Intensity Map

Similar to a grayscale image, it displays contours and light-dark variations, used for object recognition and positioning.

The machine vision platform DIAVision provides a no-code graphical editing interface, allowing application engineers to easily create custom applications through simple drag-and-drop actions.
